why are kids so gross?

so, we recently decided to try and start potty trainer xander. he's two now, and since he usually tries to do everything ilya does, i hoped maybe he was ready to be done with the diapers.

so far it's going great...NOT. yesterday i went into his room while he was sleeping, and the whole room smelled suspiciously poopy. i saw him asleep in the corner wrapped in his blanket, and sure enough when i peeked beneath the little punk was naked (a side effect of the training--he's addicted to nudity now) with poop all over his butt. i found some smeared on his pillowcase, but the turds themselves were mysteriously absent. once i'd woken him up and plopped his nasty butt in the bath (he LOVED that, let me tell you. talk about a rude awakening!) i went searching for the poop. i followed the trail of poopy footprints to the corner behind his crib. there were smears all over his old stroller, and when i moved the stroller there was a bear-sized pile under it. oh, joy! i had to clean everything up, then re-arrange the whole room so there would be no more corners to crawl into and defile. we threw the stroller and crib away since we didn't need them anymore anyway and i was NOT in the mood to scrub dookie off of everything. and now xander is sleeping on a mattress on the floor, happily re-ensconced in the much safer diapers. oh well. there's always tomorrow...

Hahahaa! I laugh because mine is now 10 and poops where he is supposed to. Curse those pooping babies!

Although your boys are awesome... in spite of the poop.

Yeah, as cute as younger kids are, I truly enjoy not having to worry about where mine poop. Of course, now my oldest is becoming a tween with emotional crises. Sometimes those make you long for poop.

As an aside, my oldest was retentive as a baby and I was instructed by our doctor to lube the chute with a Q-tip and Vaseline. One such lubing ended up with me getting sprayed with green diarrhea. That was awesome...
